Beit Yaakov "Ohr HaEmet" profile

At the close of the school year 2000, Rabbi Ben David was requested by many parents of the Elad settlement to open a school for girls. The se parents wanted a high level and warm personalized education system according to the teachings of the Rav.

The school was started with less than fifty students divided into six classes. At the end of the 2001 school year they numbered 100 students. The surprise came at the beginning of the 2002 school year when it opened with 200 students this occurrence more than anything else increased the trust of the residents of the city to the Ohr HaEmet institutions.

Today the school numbers four hundred girls in sixteen classes.

School Staff

The school staff consists of the best teachers in the Elad settlement. The teachers are chosen with great impeccability by an administrative staff established by the Rav, shlit"a. All of the teachers are certified by the education ministry and many have a B.A. degree.

The staff is young and dynamic with high ambitions that have the desire to prove themselves as such.

The principle of the school has twelve years of experience in education and mainly in an administrative capacity.

The Budget Investment

Our teacher, the Rabbi sees the education of Jewish girls as his mission and therefore is not satisfied with the budget from the government and the local council. The Rabbi puts in the effort to reach the generous benefactors of Israel and overseas to budget in the money to acquire the best equipment for the girl's school. Since the establishment of the school until the present-the middle of the 2008- he invested in equipment and the welfare of the girls a total of $500,000.

The Current Budget

According to the standards of the ministry of education it is allowed to divide classes starting from 42 students and more. It is well known that is difficult to teach such a large group of students and therefore the Rav decided that classes over 32 students will be divided into 2 classes taking on the added costs for himself.

The Budget for Building

Due to the fact that the Ohr HaEmet institutions are apolitical, we are not provided with support from the building authority. At the commencement of the 2003 school year, we were notified that we would have to concern ourselves in finding buildings fit for the education of our girls in the Elad.

With lightning speed, we built a beautiful campus at the cost of 4,000,000 shekels in portable buildings.

It is important to note that that most of the building budget is loans that our Rav took for himself, and some are still owed to the building contractors.

Employment

The school employs 50 workers who are citizens of the settlement who work in roles as teachers, cleaning, maintenance and other areas of employment.
