"Im ein kemach ein Torah". The Pinsk Karlin soup kitchen provides 700 hot meals to several hundred talmidim on a daily basis. For many of the talmidim, these meals constitute the only cooked meals they consume throughout the week.
The current financial breakdown in the chareidi sector has taken a heavy toll on families of avreichim who send their boys to the Talmud Torah. The underprivileged talmidim arrive at the Talmud Torah with merely a meager slice of bread which is insufficient to quiet their hunger pangs after a whole day of learning, and they desperately yearn for a hot, satiating meal.
Many parents cannot afford to finance such meals. That is why the administration of the Talmud Torah has undertaken to subsidize the hot meals for their children, so that they too can satiate their hunger and strengthen their spirit.
